The fun and lively music of the world-renowned Swedish pop group ABBA was relived in the musical film Mamma Mia! where the filmmakers stitched together the ABBA hits into a story about family, romance, and love. This follows the story of Sophie as portrayed by Amanda Seyfried who is soon to be married to her boyfriend and her search for her real father right before the marriage because she wants him to walk her down the aisle. She sent letters to the three former boyfriends, and her potential fathers, to come to her wedding so that she would be able to find out who among them is her real father. A lost love was rekindled, new romances were found, and lives were changed. Together with Meryl Streep as Donna, Stellan Skarsgard as Bill, Pierce Brosnan as Sam, and Colin Firth as Harry, let us celebrate the music that cheered up the little Greek island in the 2008 musical Mamma Mia!
- I Have a Dream
This was the prologue of the film where Sophie (Seyfried) sang it solo. It is a great inspirational song, and in the film, it is perhaps about finding out who her true father is and let him ceremoniously give her over to her groom-to-be.
- Honey, Honey
This was performed by the lead Sophie and her two girl friends. This is technically about a girl relating her encounter with a handsome lad to her friends. However, it was sang in the movie when Sophie was telling her friends about the past relationships of her mother that she discovered when she went through her diary without permission.
- Money, Money, Money
This was performed by Donna and the Dynamos (Meryl Streep and her two girl friends). She sang it when there were many things that needed repair but she was out of funds.
- Mamma Mia
Mamma Mia was performed by Meryl Streep when she saw the three men of her life reached the island. It is a song about being in a state of shock or surprise for falling all over again someone who broke your heart but actually cannot resist the feeling.
- Dancing Queen
It was performed by Meryl Streep, Julie Waters, and Christine Barinski, or simply the timeless Donna and the Dynamos. Her two girl friends were trying to cheer Donna up and simply celebrate happiness.
- Our Last Summer
It was sung by Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried or simply Donna, her daughter Sophie, and the three possible fathers. Probably, it was when the three former boyfriends were talking about their past with Donna.
- Lay All Your Love On Me
This was a song number between the to-be-married couple portrayed by Seyfried and Dominic Cooper. It was a sweet and romantic love song shared by to hearts that beat as one.
- When All Is Said and Done
It was performed by Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan whose characters were once in love, fell apart, and found the way back to each other’s arms, a very romantic movie.
