Remembering Whitney

Being one of the world’s most well-known and best-selling recording artists of all time, the sudden demise of superstar Whitney Houston has scarred the hearts of her fans too deep that it is quite impossible to ever forget her name and her legacy. Not only was she a brilliant singer but also a certified actress, model, film and record producer, and songwriter. She was even referred to as “The Voice” for her singing prowess. She was also the most awarded female recording artist of all time. She tore down walls that shunned the talent of black women. She may have already left the world, but her talent reflected in her music and the legacy she left behind will remain remembered and cherished until the end of time.

  • Saving All My Love For You

“Cause tonight is the night that I’m feeling alright. We’ll be making love the whole night through.”

This is Whitney’s single that made her win her first ever Grammy Award. It is a song about how she has never found somebody to love but when this man came, she willingly gave him her everything. All the love she has kept within her were all for him.

  • Didn’t We Almost Have It All?

“Didn’t we almost have it all when love was all we had worth giving?”

This is also a huge hit when it came out. Actually, it is even a popular song even after more than three decades since it was first heard. It is a song about having everything the moment you start sharing love with someone. Loving is something so great and splendid that you would not need or look for anything else when you already have it. When you have love, you have everything. And when you finally grasp that kind of powerful feeling, you should not let it go.

  • I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)

“I wanna dance feel the heat with somebody. Yeah, wanna dance with somebody, with somebody who loves me.”

This upbeat song also won Whitney another Grammy. It is mainly about the search for someone to give love to and at the same time, would give his love back. It may not have been a song with ocean-deep meaning but it celebrates falling in love and that in itself is beautiful.

  • How Will I Know

“How will I know if he really loves me? I say a prayer with every heartbeat. I fall in love whenever we meet.”

This is a song about being confused with the loved being offered by someone who she has feeling for, too. Not just because the one you love loves you back means that all is well. We have to be careful not to be another casualty of treacherous love.

  • I Will Always Love You

“If I should stay, I would only be in your way. So I’ll go, but I know I’ll think of you every step of the way.”

Perhaps Whitney’s most widely loved and most successful song in her entire career, I Will Always Love You is a testament of a love that would never die even if it ends.
