The Grammy Awards again rewarded for the fifty-fifth (55th) time the immense musical talents in the recording industry at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The show was hosted by LL Cool J. There were eighty one (81) categories where awards were given away. Here are some of the major awards:

In the Album of the Year where El Camino by The Black Keys, Some Nights by FUN., Babel by Mumford & Sons, Channel Orange by Frank Ocean, and Blunderbuss by Jack White were all nominated, Mumford & Sons’ Babel took home the Grammy.

For the Record of the Year award, the following gained nominations: Lonely Boy by Black Keys, Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson, We are Young by FUN. featuring Janelle Monae, Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye featuring Kimbra, Thinkin Bout You by Frank Ocean, and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift. Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know brought home the bacon.

FUN., Alabama Shakes, Hunter Hayes, The Lumineers, and Frank Ocean were all nominated for the Best New Artist award. FUN. won this category.

The following gained nominations for the Song of the Year: The A Team by Ed Sheeran who was also the songwriter, Adorn by Miguel Pimentel who was the songwriter as well, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen  with songwriters Tavish Crowe and Josh Ramsay, Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson with Jorgen Elofsson, David Gamson, Greg Kurstin and Ali Tamposi as the songwriters, and We Are Young by FUN. featuring Janelle Monae with Jack Antonoff, Jeff Bhasker, Andrew Dost and Nate Ruess as the songwriters. We Are Young was hailed the Song of the Year.

The Best Pop Vocal Album had the following nominees: Stronger by Kelly Clarkson, Ceremonials by Florence & The Machine, Some Nights by FUN., Overexposed by Maroon 5, and The Truth About Love by Pink. Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger emerged as the winner.

For the Best Dance/ Electronica Album Award, Wonderland by Steve Aoki, Don’t Think by Chemical Brothers, >Album Title Goes Here by Deadmau5, Fire & Ice by Kaskade, and Bangarang by Skrillex which won this category.

The Best Rock Album went to El Camino by The Black Keys as it bested Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay, The 2nd Law by Muse, Wrecking Ball by Bruce Springsteen, and Blunderbuss by Jack White.

The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You  More Thjan Ropes Will Ever Do by Fiona Apple, Biophilia by Bjork, Making Mirrors by Gotye, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming by M83, and Bad as Me by Tom Waits were all nominated for Best Alternative Music Album where Gotye’s Making Mirrors won.

The nominees for Best Country Album were Uncaged by Zac Brown Band, Hunter Hayes’ self-titled album, Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran by Jamey Johnson, Four the Record by Miranda Lambert, and The Time Jumpers’ self-titled album. Uncaged by Zac Brown Band was named the Best Country Album of 2012.
